Precision. Quality. Convenience.

Your Journey to Prostate Cancer Recovery Starts Here.

Dr. Parikh specializes in treating prostate cancer with state-of-the-art radiotherapy techniques, including Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) - a highly-targeted form of radiation which treats prostate cancer in 5 treatments over 1.5 weeks (as opposed to longer treatments that can last up to 45 treatments over 9 weeks).

Our Services

  • Upon a thorough review of existing records, Dr. Parikh will schedule a comprehensive appointment to discuss findings to date, additional imaging/genomic tests that may be beneficial, and the various treatment options for your malignancy.

Whether you are looking to establish care, or seeking a second opinion to discuss treatment options, feel free to contact our office to learn more. Dr. Parikh sees patients in-office and via telemedicine.

An overview of radiation for prostate cancer may be found here.

  • Dr. Parikh and his team offer personalized, empathetic care at each step of your journey:

    • Consultation: after Dr. Parikh has meticulously reviewed your history/findings to date, he will discuss various treatment options (and pros/cons of each), and describe in detail radiation options you may be a candidate for.

    • CT Simulation: upon being fit into an immobilization device (meant to keep your body still in a consistent position for each treatment), we will obtain precise, 3D images of your body on CT to plan your radiation therapy. If eligible for fiducial placement (inside prostate) and/or rectal spacer (placed in between prostate and rectum), this will be done prior to CT simulation.

    • Treatment Planning: CT planning images will be fused to a high-resolution MRI scan, which will guide Dr. Parikh and team of physicists to design the optimal treatment for your prostate cancer.

    • Treatment Delivery: after performing daily imaging (to ensure images are lining up precisely to where want them), invisible, high-energy beams of energy will be directed at your prostate cancer. While each treatment will be slotted for 20 minutes, the vast majority of this time is getting setup and doing imaging for guidance.

    • On-treatment management: during active treatment, you will see Dr. Parikh at least once per week to ensure things are going well, and address any questions that may have come up.

    • Follow-up / Survivorship: after your treatment has concluded, Dr. Parikh will follow you to ensure resolution of acute side effects from radiation, and work closely with your urologist / medical oncologist to establish appropriate plan for follow-up.

  • Radiosurgery: Dr. Parikh offers Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) to treat your prostate cancer in just 5, highly-targeted, treatments.

Image-guidance: by fusing your planning scan to a multiparametric MRI (and PSMA PET-CT if applicable), Dr. Parikh precisely tailors your radiation plan to ensure areas of suspected disease are fully covered, while sparing key organs in vicinity.

Additional precaution: to minimize risk of organ toxicity, we offer placement of intraprostatic fiducials and rectal spacer (SpaceOar or Barrigel).

About Us

  • We strive to offer high-quality radiation treatment services to prostate cancer patients all over Texas.

With telemedicine as an option for consultation, and the ability to offer a precise course of SBRT in 5 treatments (instead of as many as 45 treatments previously utilized), we are excited to serve patients throughout the state who otherwise would not have been able to receive this care.

  • Upon completing training at UCLA (one of the country’s earliest adopters of prostate SBRT), Dr. Parikh subsequently moved back home to Texas and successfully built a prostate SBRT program in San Antonio. He now offers prostate SBRT in central Texas (for patients in the region and throughout the state).

Dr. Parikh has treated hundreds of patients with prostate SBRT, and is excited to continue offering this treatment (coupled with cutting-edge imaging guidance and modern linear accelerator machines).

  • Dr. Parikh earned a B.A. (Economics) from Rice University, followed by M.D. at Baylor College of Medicine and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Upon completing medical internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, given his interest in health policy and health economics, he subsequently spent two years as a healthcare consultant at McKinsey & Company serving payors, providers, and life science companies.

Dr. Parikh then completed his Radiation Oncology training at UCLA, where his primary research interests focused on value-based healthcare in radiation oncology, and integration of novel technologies/techniques for prostate cancer (e.g., PSMA imaging, SBRT). While at UCLA, he also completed the Biodesign Fellowship, and co-founded "CranioView", a medical device company focused on noninvasively detecting elevated intracranial pressure in patients with acute neurologic injury.

After completing training, Dr. Parikh moved back home to Texas where he has practiced as a Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist with a focus on genitourinary malignancies.
